HVAC & Plumbing Engineering

APEX Engineering used a CFD model and an analysis based on the Statistically Steady Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) simulation algorithm to ensure that odors and hazardous exhaust do not enter into outdoor air intakes and open windows of the client’s hospital.

The analysis and figures show that under the given conditions and assumptions, there is no impact to the new air handling unit from any exhaust air from either the building itself or the diesel generators. The analysis indicated compliance with the following standards.

  • ASHRAE Standard 62.1 “Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality” – 2016
  • ASHRAE Standard 170 “Ventilation of Health Care Facilities” – 2017
