apex engineering farmington natural gas fueled central energy plant

APEX Engineering was hired to assist with the engineering of the newly approved natural gas-fueled central energy plant at University of Maine Farmington. Farmington’s town planning board approved the build with a 61 vote. APEX’s client, Trane Energy Services, will be the primary designer and builder on the project.

The plant, once completed, is predicted to save the university more than 390,000 gallons of heating oil, and will reduce the university’s annual carbon output by a staggering 3,000 tons. The plant will be built on the site of a university parking lot near the Perkins and Quebec Street intersection.
